RAFTER DM
EQUINE INNOVATIONS
Life on the farm at Rafter DM Equine Innovations is always busy with activities, horse related and otherwise. It is very much a family affair, with five children to help with caring for the horses. Everyone chips in to do their part in running the farm.
Darcy started in the industry as a rodeo competitor, turning professional and then eventually became a judge and producer of professional rodeo competitions. Also, over the years has been a ring steward and a ringman at major quarter horse shows and auctions.
Maggie has been an active horse show competitor since she was a child, showing in a variety of events. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to train and show many young horses and especially enjoys coaching youth competitors. After spending many years working in mixed animal Veterinary practice, she is now a part-time Professor teaching Veterinary Technology students at St. Lawrence College and is full time on the farm during the summer. Her training as a Registered Veterinary Technician ensures all the animals on the farm receive excellent care.
Careful breeding for sound minds and athletic ability has always been a major focus in the breeding program. Producing great family horses that can also compete in the show pen are important to the farm and our many satisfied clients.
Darcy and Maggie have recently completed courses in Equine Semen and Equine Breeding Management from the Ohio State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, to ensure they are up to date and continuing to provide to best service to their clients.
